About Fuel-Sense

What is Fuel-Sense?

Fuel-Sense is a free UK fuel price comparison tool built to help drivers find the cheapest petrol and diesel near them — quickly, accurately, and without any sign-up or faff.

We search thousands of UK stations in real time and show you live prices, so you can make an informed decision before every fill-up.

Why We Built This

UK fuel prices have been volatile and painful for drivers over the past few years. Petrol hit nearly 192p per litre in 2022 — and while prices have fallen since, the average UK driver still spends well over £1,500 per year on fuel.

The frustrating truth is that fuel prices can vary by 10–20p per litre between stations just a few miles apart. Most drivers fill up out of habit or convenience — not information.

Fuel-Sense was built to fix that. We believe every driver deserves access to clear, current price information — for free. A well-informed fill-up can save you £5–£10 every time. Over a year, that's £200–£400 back in your pocket.

How It Works

1

Enter your postcode or use your location

We use your location only to find nearby stations — it's never stored or logged.

2

See live prices from stations near you

Prices are pulled from official UK government fuel data, updated every 30 minutes.

3

Pick the best value and save

Filter by fuel type, brand, and distance to find exactly what suits you — then head straight there.

Where Does Our Data Come From?

All prices shown on Fuel-Sense are sourced from the UK Government's mandatory fuel price reporting scheme, administered under the Road Fuel (Sales Information and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2022.

Since November 2023, every fuel retailer with five or more UK sites is legally required to submit live pump prices to the government's designated data body every 30 minutes. This data is then made publicly available.

This means prices on Fuel-Sense are:

  • Sourced directly from fuel retailers — not scraped, estimated, or crowdsourced
  • Updated at least every 30 minutes to reflect real pump prices
  • Verified by the government's mandatory reporting requirement
  • Covering thousands of UK sites across all brands

We don't invent prices or fill in gaps with guesses. If a station's price isn't in the official data, we don't show one.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously. Fuel prices shown reflect the official data as submitted by retailers. We display the time data was last updated on station listings, so you always know how current the information is.

If you spot an error or notice a discrepancy between the price shown and the actual pump price, please let us know. We take every report seriously and investigate promptly.

How We Handle Your Location

When you tap "Use My Location", your device shares your GPS coordinates with us only for that single search request. The coordinates are used to find nearby stations and are not stored, logged, or associated with your account.

Prefer not to use GPS? Enter your postcode instead — it works just as well. Your postcode is used only to look up coordinates via the public Postcodes.io API; we don't store that either.

Privacy, GDPR & Your Rights

Fuel-Sense is fully GDPR compliant. We don't sell your data, we don't track you unnecessarily, and we give you full control over what optional cookies you allow. You can update your cookie preferences at any time.
